Chess@home is SETI@home for Chess. It was prototyped in 48 hours by the folks at Joshfire for the 2011 Node Knockout contest.

Don't know what that means? You can still donate a few bucks to help us buy more cloud instances on D-Day.
The Node Knockout contest was limited to 48h so we may not be ready to beat Kasparov yet. However in the next few weeks we'll make continuous improvements to the strength and scalability of the AI.
Some say a JavaScript AI will never beat a Grand Master. We say that in the cloud, the sky is the limit!
When we're ready, we plan to invite an actual french Grand Master along with a Guinness official and coordinate online so that we all break the current 2070-node record and make Node.js a part of History! ;–)
